Tutorials: Paint care, polishing & wax sealing

From clay bar and hand polish to Carnauba wax and ceramic sealant – the complete paint care process on video

Paint Rubber – deep cleaning with clay bar

An exceptional result needs a clean foundation. The Paint Rubber cleaning clay gently removes deposits such as overspray, industrial fallout and flash rust that remain on the paint even after hand washing.

Using Paint Rubber

1. Wash and dry the vehicle thoroughly.

2. Spray Quick Finish onto the surface and slide the Paint Rubber back and forth with light pressure.

3. If the paint does not yet feel smooth, repeat the process.

4. Treat the cleaned surface with Cleaner Fluid Regular and seal with Swissvax Carnauba wax.

The Paint Rubber can be used until the entire clay is saturated with dirt particles.

Cleaner Fluids – hand polish without abrasives

To create a good bond between paint and Swissvax wax, the paint is treated after washing (and optionally Paint Rubber) with Cleaner Fluid Regular. This nourishing solution works without abrasives and removes light scratches, tar, tree sap and old wax. For heavier scratches we recommend Cleaner Fluid Strong or Cleaner Fluid Medium as a first step.

Using Cleaner Fluids

1. Wash and dry the vehicle thoroughly (pre-treat with Paint Rubber if needed).

2. Apply Cleaner Fluid Regular generously with the Cotton Applicator white in crosswise strokes (no circular motion) over a panel such as the bonnet or both wings, until the surface is evenly nourished.

3. Do not let the Cleaner Fluid dry out. Buff off the still-wet fluid with the Micro-Fluffy. Turn the cloth frequently. Do not use other off-the-shelf microfibre cloths – risk of scratches!

4. Same application for Cleaner Fluid Medium and/or Strong.

Carnauba wax – sealing by hand

The secret of a deeply mirror-like, resistant paint surface lies in the handcrafted Swissvax waxes. From Onyx at 30% by volume to Carat at 81% by volume – the application stays the same in each case.

Using universal and specialist waxes

1. Apply the Swissvax wax with the Schwammapplikator black or with the palm of your hand, so that an even film of wax forms.

2. Let it act for a few minutes – do not let it dry in.

3. Buff to a high gloss with the Micro-Fluffy. Turn the cloth again and again.

4. Do not touch the paint surface for 3 hours. If possible, place the vehicle in the sun – the gloss deepens visibly over the hours.

5. If necessary, briefly wipe off afterwards with the Micro-Polish blue.
